Veterans and Military Families

I have the highest respect for those who serve our country and those who served before them. They risk their lives to protect our way of life. In Congress, I will honor that service and sacrifice by protecting their interests.

We must prevent budgets from being balanced on the backs of those who have served this country. It is important that the Veterans Administration be exempted from the budget sequestration that is being forced upon Congress. From TRICARE to the VA, we must make sure that we keep our promise to care for Veterans. It is also important that we have a strong GI Bill to help our returning Veterans transition back into civilian life.

Over the past decade, our service members and their families have borne an extraordinary burden. To help them bear this burden, we must increase our level of support for them. In Congress, I will call for an expansion of military child care installations to full coverage so we can make sure military families receive the best care we can give them. I will also support an increase in funding for job assistance programs for military spouses and returning veterans.
