There is no single solution to our rising energy costs. Over the long term, we must switch to cleaner fuels and increase efficiency. Doing so will not just save us money and break our dependence on foreign oil; it will drastically improve the environment we all share. We have seen that, over time, the quality of air in our Valley has continued to decline and we must turn that around.
We must become leaders in the green energy environment because if we don’t, we will be forced to import these technologies from China in a few short years. We have always led the world in energy development and now is not the time to take a back seat to the future.
At the same time, we must be open to short-term, stop-gap solutions that can lower the cost of energy and raise environmental standards, even if they are not truly clean technologies.
