Agriculture

I know the farms of the Central Valley because I grew up working in them. Each February, my parents, my siblings and I would arrive in the Central Valley and head for the strawberry fields. As the season progressed, we’d move to follow the lettuce harvest and then on to cherry, cucumber, apricot, peach and tomato harvests. We’d finish up the season picking grapes, and then start the process all over again the next year.

Because I spent those years in the San Joaquin Valley, I know how important family farms are to our future. Agriculture is the backbone of the Central Valley’s economy and it is imperative that our representative in Washington understands the demands of our agri-businesses and how to keep the Valley as California’s Agricultural Center. In Congress, I will represent the interest of all of those in the agriculture industry.

As your representative in Congress, I will fight hard for the priorities of the Central Valley. That includes working to ensure the next Farm Bill. I will also fight to ensure that future legislation meets the needs of California’s specialty crop growers.
